6U Boys / GirlsThe AYSO 6U program is
a fundamental, introductory soccer program designed for young players ages 5 or tuning 5. It focuses on fun and learning through short-sided games and emphasizes player development with a focus on technical skills and creating a positive, supportive environment.
- Gameplay: Short-sided games, typically 3v3 or 4v4, with no goalkeepers.
- In one Region 239, the 6U activity day includes a 20-minute technical development session followed by a 4v4 game with another team, for a total of 60 minutes.
- AYSO Region 418 uses professional trainers to support volunteer coaches, with games played 3v3.
- Rosters: Smaller rosters, NO MORE than 6 players per team, to ensure everyone gets ample playing time.
- Equipment: Players need soccer cleats, shin guards, and a size 3 soccer ball.
- Practice/Games: Weekly games, usually on Saturdays.

- Emphasis: Focus on skill development, positive coaching, and the "Everyone Plays" philosophy.
- No Standings: No standings or playoffs to focus on fun and participation.
