Thank you for stepping up to Volunteer!

The following is a step-by-step guide to all of the items needed to be certified as a:
Head Coach, Assistant Coach, 8U Referee or Regional (10U & 12U) Referee.

Once training is complete you may pickup your uniforms & for new coaches, your Coach Bag with:  pinnies, balls, cones...etc.
**Returning Coaches will have their supplies replenished as needed.
**8U Coaches, Don't forget to recruit 2 referees for your games!  Coaches in 8U are on the sidelines only.

Click on  Register Now  for new accounts or proceed to step 1.

STEP 1: BACKGROUND SCREENING - Youth Referees** (17 & under) - COMPLETE #1 ONLY in this STEP

1)** Sign up to be a volunteer as you register your player OR
      - Login to your account.
      - Click on the "Volunteer" tab on the left side of the screen.
      - Scroll down until you see:    Register as a Volunteer  (requires scrolling down) 

2) Complete the required information marked by a VERY light gray asterisk: " * ".  ONLY THE MARKED FIELDS ARE REQUIRED
 **** IMPORTANT:  PLEASE REGISTER USIING YOUR GIVEN NAME ON YOUR GOVERNMENT ISSUED ID. Given Names & Nicknames will not "sync up" to your AYSO Volunteer Record.
   - Click "Submit"

3) Within 24 hours (usually sooner) Sterling Volunteers will email you, using the email address associated with your account, requesting you to:
- Create an Account
- "give permission" to begin the Background Screen.

if you do not see this email, please check your Spam Folder.

STEP 2: FINGERPRINTING - Youth Referees (17 & under) - DO NOT COMPLETE THIS STEP

Use the following link to get LiveScan Fingerprinting for AYSO*

*FINGERPRINTING IS STILL REQUIRED, EVEN IF YOU HAVE ALREADY BEEN LIVESCAN FINGERPRINTED THROUGH ANOTHER ORGANIZATION. (It's ridiculous...I know)

STEP 3; SafeSport - Youth Referees (17 & under) - DO NOT COMPLETE THIS STEP

1)  The AYSO Enrollment Key will be triggered by using the following link:

2) If the above link is not live, copy & paste it into your browser.

3) OR access a SafeSport link from your account: Click on the "Volunteer" tab on your Account page; the SafeSport link is on the Drop-down menu above your name. The title is:

STEP 4; ONLINE TRAINING CLASSES

1) Sign into your Sports Connect Account www.ayso87.org

2) Click on the "Volunteer" tab on the left side of the screen.

3) Click on the AYSOU radio button at the top of the VOLUNTEER page 

4) Once Logged in, the screen will show: "Welcome to the AYSO Learning Library"

5) Scroll down on the left & Click on “Training Library”.

6) On the "Course Categories" page, under the "Safe Haven" tab 
    Click on   VIEW COURSES   
    Complete the following 3 courses:

• AYSO's Safe Haven 2022 (No Audio) -   ENROLL    
• CDC Concussion Awareness - Online -   ENROLL    
  
• SIMON'S HEART - Sudden Cardiac Arrest - Online -   ENROLL    

***FOR REFEREES:
7) Under the "Refereeing" tab, Click on  VIEW COURSES   

8)    ENROLL   in & Complete the  Course that corresponds to the Division for which you volunteered.

• 10U & 12U - Choose "Regional Referee Online + In-Person Companion Course" -   ENROLL   
• OR to complete the entire training IN-PERSON:  Choose "Regional Referee - Full In-Person Course" -    ENROLL VIA EVENT   LOOK AT THE LOCATION BEFORE ENROLLING!
  

• 8U Referee - Choose "8U Official Course - Online" -   ENROLL   

STEP 5: LOCATE IN-PWERSON TRAINING for;
Referees - Regional (10U -12U)
Intermediate (14U)
Advanced (16U - 19U) 

1) Sign into your Sports Connect Account:  ayso87.org

2) Click on the "Volunteer" tab on the left side of the screen.

3) Click on the AYSOU radio button at the top of the VOLUNTEER page 

4) Once Logged in, the screen will show: "Welcome to the AYSO Learning Library"

5) Scroll down on the left & Click on “Training Event”.

6) Use the "Location" tab to narrow your search by zip code & Distance   25km > 

7) Choose a date on the calendar & Click on the Training Event or "See All Events".

8) When you find an event that fits your Certification need & schedule, Click on  ENROLL

Both Region 87 and visiting coaches are responsible for ensuring compliance of the Region 87 No Dogs policy.

See the Region 87 No Dogs policy for more information.

If a dog within 10 yards of your team's touchline, that team's head coach will receive a caution (a yellow card) and the game will be stopped until the animal is removed from the immediate playing area.

If the animal reappears, or if it takes longer than 5 minutes to remove the animal, the match will be abandoned, and your team will forfeit the match.

Please help our referees by ensuring that no dogs or other pets are present at our fields.

The home coach is always responsible for ensuring there are qualified, uniformed referees for a match.

If no qualified referee is available, the home team for the match will forfeit the match. See the Referee Point Requirements page for specifics related to your team's age bracket.
